أَيُّ فَتى لَيلٍ أَخي رَوعاتِ

وَأَيُّ سَبّاقٍ إِلى الغاياتِ

What a youth of the night, a brother to terrors,

And what a forerunner, racing toward the ultimate goals!

لِلّهِ دَرُّ الغُرَرِ الساداتِ

مِن هاشِمِ الهاماتِ وَالقاماتِ

To God belongs the excellence of the radiant masters,

From the lineage of Hashim, of high heads and lofty stature,

مِثلُ رَسولِ اللَهِ ذي الآياتِ

أَو كَعَلِيٍّ كاشِفِ الكُرُباتِ

Like the Messenger of God, possessor of divine signs,

Or like Ali, the dispeller of calamities,

كَذا يَكونُ المَرء في الحاجاتِ

Thus acts a true man in times of need.
