1. يُعَزّونَني قَومُ بِراءٌ مِنَ الصَبرِ

    وَفي الصَبرِ أَشياءُ أَمرُّ مِنَ الصَبرِ

    They offer me consolation, a people devoid of patience,

    Yet within patience lie things more bitter than patience itself.

  2. يَعَزّي المُعَزّي ثُمَ يَمضي لِشَأنِهِ

    وَيَبقى المُعَزّى في أَحَرِّ مِنَ الجَمرِ

    The consoler offers comfort then departs to his affairs,

    While the bereaved remains in heat more searing than burning coals.
