إِذا كُنتَ في الأَمسِ اِقتَرَفتَ إِساءَةً

فَثَنِّ بِإِحسانٍ وَأَنتَ حَميدُ

If yesterday you committed a transgression,

Follow it with a good deed, and you shall be praiseworthy.

وَلا تُرجِ فِعلَ الخَيرِ يَوماً إِلى غَدٍ

لَعَلَّ غَداً يَأتي وَأَنتَ فَقيدُ

Do not put off a virtuous act until tomorrow,

For perchance tomorrow arrives when you are no more.

ويَومَكَ إِن عاتَبتَهُ عادَ نَفعُهُ

إِلَيكَ وَماضي الأَمسِ لَيسَ يَعودُ

If you hold your current day to account, its benefit returns

To you, while the past of yesterday never returns.
