A man wished that I would die; and if I die,
Men have wished for my death, yet if I should die,
That is a path where you are not alone.
That is a path I do not tread alone.
And he who desires my ruin cannot really harm me;
He who seeks my undoing causes me no harm,
Nor does the death of those who died before me make me immortal.
Nor does the death of those before me grant me immortality.
For I and those who died before me are like one
For I, and those who have passed before me, are but like
Who visits a friend, or goes away and returns.
One visiting a friend, or journeying at dusk and dawn.
