إِنَّ اَخاكَ الحَقّ مَن كانَ مَعَك

وَمَن يَضِرُّ نَفسَهُ لِيَنفَعَك

Your brother in truth is he who sides with you

Your true brother is the one who stands with you,

And who harms himself that he may profit you

Who harms his own self to bring you benefit,

وَمَن إِذا ريبَ الزَمانُ صَدَعَك

شَتَّتَ فيكَ شَملَهُ لِيَجمَعَك

And who, when the fickleness of time divides you

And who, when the calamities of time shatter you,

Scatters himself in you that he may unite you

Scatters his own peace to gather your broken fragments,

وَإِن غَدَوتَ ظالِماً غَدا مَعَك

And if you act unjustly, he goes along with you

And should you turn unjust, he remains by your side.
