سَليمُ العَرضِ مَن حَذِرَ الجَوابا

وَمَن دارى الرِجالَ فَقَد أَصابا

He remains sound in honor who is wary of the retort,

And he who treats men with courtesy has surely struck the mark,

وَمَن هابَ الرِجالَ تَهَيَّبوهُ

وَمَن يُهِنِ الرِجالَ فَلَن يُهابا

Whoever holds men in awe is held in awe by them,

But he who degrades men shall never be revered.
