أَولَئِكَ إِخوانِيَ الذاهِبونَ

فَحقَّ البُكاءُ لَهُم أَن يَطيبا

Those are my brethren who have departed,

So it is right that weeping for them be unconstrained,

رُزِئتُ صَبيباً عَلى فاقَةٍ

وَفارَقتُ بَعدَ حَبيبٍ حَبيبا

I was afflicted with the loss of a kindred soul in my time of need,

And I have parted with one beloved after another.
