1. ما أَكثَرَ الناسَ لا بَل ما أَقَلَّهُمُ

    اللَهُ يَعلَمُ أَنّي لَم أَقُل فَندا

    How numerous are the people! No, rather how few they are;

    God knows that I have not spoken a falsehood.

  2. إِنّي لَأَفتَحُ عَيني حينَ أَفتَحُها

    عَلى كَثيرٍ وَلَكِن لا أَرى أَحَدا

    For I open my eyes—whenever I open them—

    Upon a multitude, yet I see not a single soul.
