How much hidden grace God has,
How much hidden grace belongs to God,
Whose subtlety eludes the minds of the astute.
Whose subtlety eludes the comprehension of the intelligent,
How much ease came after hardship,
And how much ease has come after hardship,
Relieving the sorrow of the aching heart.
Relieving the distress of the sorrow-stricken heart.
How often you grieve in the morning over something
And how many matters grieve you in the morning,
Yet joy comes to you by evening.
Yet joy comes to you by the evening.
If circumstances constrict you one day,
If one day circumstances close in upon you,
Then trust in the One, the Unique, the Exalted.
Then trust in the One, the Unique, the Most High.
Do not despair if some matter goes wrong,
And do not despair if a calamity befalls,
For God has much hidden grace.
For how much hidden grace belongs to God.
