A sister of Sakhra came and told me
News reached me that Hind, the sister of Sakhr,
That the Indians had called up their army and brought glad tidings,
Called out for vengeance and brought glad tidings to her kin,
If you are proud of Hamza when he retreated,
So if she boasts of Hamza when he passed away,
To join the martyrs, seeking martyrdom,
Among the martyrs, seeking God's reward, a martyr true,
Then we, on the day of Badr, had killed
Then surely we, upon the Day of Badr, slew
Abu Jahl, Utbah and al-Walid,
Abu Jahl, and Utbah, and Al-Walid,
And we killed the best knights of mankind,
And we slaughtered the noblest chiefs, one and all,
And seized their women and slaves,
And gained the captive maidens and slaves as spoils,
And we killed Shaybah on that day of yours,
And Shaybah, too, we killed on that day of yours,
Hanging from his clothes, slain,
With clotted gore caked thick upon his clothes,
So he was destined for the worst abode in Hell,
So he was lodged in Hell, the vilest home,
In it he found no refuge,
From which he found no refuge nor escape.
It is not equal, one who is in Hellfire,
And two are not alike: the one within the Fire,
Drinking there boiling water,
Whose draught therein is festering, boiling pus,
And one who is in Paradise, living there happily,
And he who dwells in Gardens, where blessings flow
With sustenance pouring upon him, pleased and praiseworthy.
Upon him, blissful in his state and praised.
