The soul's gift from the pain of sins
Wounded at heart from the pain of sins,
A frail body moaning in lament
Gaunt of body, gasping with heavy sobbing.
Kept awake through the long nights
The sleeplessness of nights has ravaged his frame,
Until it became like a rod
Until his body became like a slender twig.
Fear changed its hue intensely
Intense fear has altered his complexion,
From the length of its torment
Because of the prolonged anguish he faces.
It cries imploring, my God
He calls out in humble supplication: "O my God,
Lighten my stumbling, hide my flaws
Forgive my slip and cover my flaws.
I fled to creation, seeking aid
I turned in panic to creation seeking aid,
But found no answerer among creatures
Yet I found no answerer among the created.
Yet You answer those who call You Lord
But You answer the one who calls upon You, my Lord,
And relieve Your servant’s harm, my Beloved
And You lift the harm from Your servant, O my Beloved.
My malady is inward; Your healing ready
My disease is hidden within, and with You is the cure,
And who has a cure like Yours, my Healer
And who can offer me a cure like Yours, O my Physician?
