The war knows my determination as the enemy approaches,
Truly, the fierce, recurring war knows that I
Though I am now old and my youth has passed.
Am a veteran in strength, though a youth in years,
The night smiles gently as if to congratulate me,
Restless through the night, as if I were a Jinni,
As I go to face the enemy with all my skill.
I confront the battle with every art of war,
With me are my weapons and my experience,
With me is my weapon, and with me is my shield,
And a sharp sword to cut through all hardship.
And a trenchant blade that severs every grudge,
With it I drive back every foe from me,
With which I drive every enemy far from my path;
For this my mother gave birth to me.
For the likes of this did my mother bear me.
