إذا أسْبل الصَّوبُ اليَمينيُّ أنبتتْ

هوامِدُ أرض اللّه وانْهزَم المحْلُ

If the right showers poured down

Allah's land blossomed, and the abode retreated

طليقُ المُحَيَّا مِنْ مَعَدٍّ كأنما

عَزائمُه في كلِّ رائعَةٍ نَصْلُ

With smooth cheeks from slender Ma'add as if

His intentions regarding every sublime woman were a sharp sword

يُبيحُ القِرى والعامُ أغْبَرُ قاتمٌ

ويحمي الحمى والخيل كالحةٌ قُبْل

It violates villages while the year is darkly overcast

And it protects the protected and the horses are valiant before

يُجنِّبُ أعْذارَ الزَّمان ضيوفَهُ

حياءً ويمْري دَرَّ نائلِهِ العذْل

It avoids the excuses of time for its guests

Out of shyness, and it lets its attainments flow freely

وإِنْ فاخرتْ عُلْيا كِنانةَ سَرَّها

بأنْكَ شِهاب الحضرتين لها نجْلُ

And if the High Kinanah took pride in your belonging to them

For you are the meteor of the two Noble Sanctuaries for it
