أُثني عليه حَسنَاً وجهُه

أبْلَجُ للدُّنيْا به رَوْنَقُ

His face is praised for its beauty

It brings charm to the world

جَمَّ الأيادي سابِغاً فضلُه

يحْمَدُهُ المُشْئِمُ والمُعْرقُ

His abundant favor brings hands together

Both the unlucky and stripped praise him

في دسْتهِ الضَّيْغَمُ منْ فتْكِهِ

وفي الأناةِ الأيْهَمُ الأوْرقُ

In his grasp death from his violence

In his spear the dark, leafy spear

سَهْلُ قيادٍ غيرُ مُسْتصْعبٍ

لا يلبسُ الكِبْرَ ولا يَنْزَقُ

A leader easy to follow, not difficult

He wears no arrogance, nor is he ungenerous

تلْقاهُ في عِدَّتهِ واحِداً

وهو اذا خاضَ الوغى فيْلَقُ

You will find him alone with his weapons

Yet when war stirs he charges

ماضي الغِراريْنِ على خَصْمهِ

سِيَّانِ منه السيفُ والمَنْطقُ

Going at his enemies, enraged

To him, the sword and speech are the same
