Faith remains exultant, rapt with joy,
when evening comes and you are its radiance.
Virtue is made resplendent when its sire is a valiant man;
his are dreaded prowess and generosity.
A noble youth—to the foe, intensely bitter aloe;
among his intimates, honey and water.
A dauntless chief who never ceases to defend and feast his guests,
when calamities and winter grow rabid.
So wish me joy with every sacred month,
and declare lawful all the glory that praise has built.
