حمى اللهُ اِقْبالاً حمايةَ دينهِ

إِذا أسْلَمَت جار الملوك المعاقِلُ

May God protect Iqbal's zeal in guarding his faith

When the fortresses of neighbor kings have surrendered

فعند جمال الدولتين لِطالبٍ

كرامُ نُهىً موفورةٌ وفضائلُ

For seekers of beauty in the two states

Abundant noble morals and virtues there are

إِذا استنَّ في الجدوى وجدَّ إلى الحمى

تمنَّى مقاميْهِ الحيَا والمناصل

If one is steadfast in purpose, one will find zeal for protection

And yearn for abodes of life and cutting blades
