The angel of gratitude, Nawal,
Below the clouds is her abode.
Truthful in nature, excellent in character,
When calm, she is lively, when upset, collected.
Constantly smiling, lingering and staying,
In the dear life, not in a rush to leave.
We were endowed with generosity by her,
The pillar of resolute faith.
A horseman of two meadows, either
Barren or locked in conflict.
For him defeat are the stony trails
And death, the unforgiving ally.

He complains of what the dawn revealed
And what the night concealed.
His villages and home forever
Afflicted and anxious.
So on him, the emancipation of
Birds and crowded people.
And we saw, with the drought,
And in war, turmoil.
Foremost in the field of glory, his limit cannot be reached.
He attained the highest summit while still a lad.
Defiant of desire, pouring with pride,
Decisive in resolve, a sharp sword of the valiant,
That cuts off disputes when the warriors
Withdraw from striking each other.
The pupils of his eyes: the glory of faith and the inkpots of order.
Master of the living, noble when nobles are few.
His children: coarse in skin, mighty, unopposed.
They undertake the abundant gifts and deflect any blame.
Sweet yet strong-tasted from affection,
Yet harsh in anger.
So his glory prohibited him
And the sacred month.
