يغشى سَراةُ لَقاحِ الحيِّ منزلَه

مُستعصمين اذا ما حادثٌ طَرَقا

The morning dew covers his abode

As they take refuge when an event knocks

ويلمحُ المُسْنتونَ الشُّعثُ بارقه

دون السَّحاب فيهمي وابلاً غَدِقا

And the bats glimpse its lightning

Below the clouds pouring heavy rain

يُقحِّم النفس في الهول المخوف وعن

تقحيمه العِرض يُفى هيِّباً فَرِقا

It humbles the soul in fearful awe yet

From its humbling honor recoils in alarm

طِرْفٌ مداه العُلى والمجدُ غايتُه

ما سوبق الشَّوط اِلا بَذَّ أو سَبقا

A gaze reaching the heights, glory its end

None preceded the mile except by effort or outstripped

به صُماتٌ عن العوراء ذو شَرفٍ

حتى اذا سيمَ خيراً مُجْدياً نَطَقا

In it silent dignity, of noble lineage

Until when it spoke good and glorious words

هو الوزير الذي سَحْناءُ غُرَّتهِ

وجودُه يَطْرُدان الفقر والغَسقا

He is the minister whose generosity

And existence dispel poverty and gloom

يبقي من الذخر والأحوالُ شاهدةٌ

طيبَ المحامد لا عيناً ولا وَرِقا

He leaves behind wealth and conditions witness

Fine praise, not fleeting, nor paper
