مُسْمَهِرُّ البأسِ مِنْ مُضَرٍ

يقْشعرُّ الموتُ مِن حَذَرِهْ

The undaunted hero from Mudar,

Death shudders in fear of him.

تطْرَبُ الألبابُ مُصْغيَةً

لحديثِ المجدِ من سِيَرِهْ

Hearts flutter listening

To tales of his glory.

كلما أوسعْتَ مُبْتَلياً

خُبْرَهُ أرْبى على خَبَرِهْ

The more misfortune you heap upon him

The more triumphant are his feats.

تُهْزَمُ الأحْداثُ كالِحَةً

بارْتجالِ الرَّأيِ لا فِكَرهْ

Disasters are routed effortlessly

By his quick thinking, not careful plans.

واذا ما أجْدَبَتْ سَنةٌ

كانَ سُقْيا الحَيِّ من مَطَرِهْ

And when a year is stricken by drought

He waters the living from his rain.

هو بَحْرٌ من فَضائِلهِ

ومَديحي فيه منْ دُرَرِدْ

He is an ocean of virtues

While my praise is but a pearl.

شَرفُ الدينِ الذي وَضَحَتْ

ظُلَمُ الأحْداثِ منْ غُررهْ

The honor of religion made bright

By his gems amidst dark events.
