زُرْتَ الاِمامين عن قلبٍ طويَّتهُ

نقيَّةُ من قَذى الأهواءِ والكدرِ

You visited the two Imams with a heart that was folded,

Pure from the motes of passions and turbidity.

ولم تزلْ زائراً بالفْعلِ ممتزجاً

بالقوم من غير تَرْحالٍ ولا سفرِ

And you did not cease to be a visitor in deed, mingled

With the people without traveling or journeying.

سلكت في سَننٍ من وصف مجدهما

فكنت من قبلُ زَوَّاراً ولم تَزُرِ

You followed exemplary traditions in describing their glory,

Thus you were, before, a visitor and did not visit.

أدناك عندهما الايثارُ عن سَغَبٍ

بالزَّاد ولنَّصرُ للمخذولِ في الغير

Preference brought you close to them, over desire

With provision, and support for the oppressed among strangers.

والحلم والبأس في سلْمٍ ومُعْتركٍ

ما بين مُصطلمٍ ضخمٍ ومُغْتفرِ

And forbearance and courage in peace and conflict

Between an offended mighty one and a pardoned one.

وشافِعاكَ هُما يومَ المعادِ اذا

كان المحقُون من هولٍ على خطرِ

With them interceding for you on the Day of Return when

The righteous are in tremendous danger.

اُثني بفضل رئيس الدين مُعْتقداً

أني بقولي وانْ أحسنتُ في حصَر

I praise, due to the excellence of the Chief of the Religion, believing

That even if my words are good, they are inadequate.

ويعجز الشِّعرُ عن اِدراكِ غايتهِ

من المعالي فاسْهابي كمُختصرِ

And poetry falls short of reaching the pinnacle of

His lofty virtues, so my elaboration is like a summary.

جَمُّ الرمادِ يُباري الشمس موقده

اذا الكواكبُ للسَّارين لم تُنِرِ

The ash of chaff pretends to match its kindled flame

When the stars do not illuminate the walkers.

لا يبْتغي للقِرى عُذْراً ليمْنَعَه

ولا يحلُ اذا ما حَلَّ بالخَمَرِ

It does not seek excuses for the towns to prevent Him,

Nor is it proper, when adulterated with wine.

ولا يدُرُّ النَّدى منهُ بمسْألةٍ

لكن تبرُّعهُ يُغْني عن المَطَرِ

Nor does dew flow from it by asking,

But its charity suffices instead of rain.
