هذا الغَديرُ وحولهُ من عِزِّهِ

عِوض الرياض ملاعبُ الفُرسانِ

This meadow and around it some of its glory

Instead of gardens, the knights' playgrounds

والخيلُ تعْدو بالكُماةِ كأنها

مُعطُ الفَلا وكواسرُ العِقْبانِ

And the horses gallop with the polo sticks as if they are

Givers of flags and breakers of spears

ما بين ذي كُرةٍ يجولُ بطرفهِ

ومُحاربٍ بمهنَّدٍ وسِنانِ

Between one with a ball roams with its edge

And a warrior with a lance and blade

ومُثير وحشٍ تَدَّريهِ سِهامُهُ

قد غادر الغِزلانَ كالأقْرانِ

And a rouser of wild beast, his arrows make it leave

The gazelles like peers

مُلَحٌ يتمُّ بها النشاطُ ومجلسٌ

جَلَّتْ مسرَّتُه دُجى الأحْزانِ

A saltiness which the vitality is completed with

Its happiness shone the gloom of sorrows

فاغْنم مُساعدةَ الليالي وابْتدر

لذّاتِها وعليكَ بالاِحسانِ

So enjoy the assistance of the nights and draw

For its pleasures and be kind to it
