O Abu Shujaa Kamaal al-Deen, I call upon you,
Below whom spears and clubs bow down,
I have praised you while hopes diminish,
To your well-known noble deeds yearns the soul,
And I could not find a rhyme for you in my words
Until I was certain it would come to be,
So know that my rights upon you are obligatory, not voluntary,
And take my praise which is supreme and lofty,
For the delay of Ameen al-Deen angered me,
And from Banu Tameem one flees if they become angry,
I was just until the two opposites met,
Affection for harmony, neither panic nor fleeing,
The affairs of corruption wearied along the peninsula,
So I dispersed them through you, by the pens and books,
O you ascetic and devout without pretense,
For there is your time when collected is Rajab,
And you did not cease to have your command obeyed when the sun rose,
And the meadows of Al-Hamd gave rainclouds to drink.
