تُعنِّفني في شرب كأسي ضَلالةً
أقِلِّي فبين الأحمرينِ هِلالُ
You chide me for drinking my cup misguidedly
Go easy, for between the two reds is a crescent
وما حالةٌ في الدهر إِلا ستنقضي
ويُعْقبُها بعد البَقاء زوالُ
And no condition in time but will pass away
And after enduring, fading follows
فكرِّي عليَّ الكأس يا مَيُّ واعلمي
بأنَّ تَصاريفَ الحياةِ خَيالُ
So pour me the cup, O wine, and know
That the fortunes of life are but fantasies
