1. ألا منْ مُبلغٌ عني هُماماً

    أشمَّ كذِروةِ الطَّودٍ الرفيعِ

    Oh herald, bear my message to the valiant one

    Who towers like the lofty peak of a great mountain

  2. يُباري بالنَّدى والبأس سِحَّ ال

    غَمام وهِبَّةَ السيفِ القَطُوعِ

    Challenging the dew and calamity with the sheen

    Of clouds and the might of a polished sword

  3. إذا ما حلَّ أرضاً ذاتَ مَحْلٍ

    أعادَ المَحْل أخصَبَ من ربيعِ

    When he settles a land of dwellings

    He restores it greener than the spring

  4. ألوكةَ صادقِ الدعْوى أمينٍ

    بريءٍ من نفاقٍ في خُضوعِ

    The banner of the sincere and loyal one

    Innocent of hypocrisy in submission

  5. بأني مُغرمٌ بهواكَ أطْوي

    على البُرَحاءِ أحْناءَ الضُّلوعِ

    I confess I am enamored with your love

    And pine over the dunes and ridges

  6. أحنُّ حنينَ رزاحةٍ فقيدٍ

    تُراوحُ في الأزِمَّةِ والنُّسوعِ

    I yearn with the longing of one parted from a friend

    Struggling through hardship and adversity

  7. إلى الوجه الطَّليق لمُعتَفيهِ

    على العِلاَّتِ والكف النَّفوعِ

    For the bright face of my confidant

    And the helping hand raised in humility

  8. وما غالتْ هواي نوىً شَطونٌ

    ولكن زادَ بُعْدي في ولوعي

    My passion grew no wild desires

    But distance increased my torment

  9. ولو مُكنت من عطفِ المَطايا

    لكانَ إلى أبي نَصْرٍ رجوعي

    Had I but the favor of mounts

    I would return to my father Nasr
