Behind you are the words of scandalous slanderers,

And beneath you are states of intoxicating passion.

If not for your inclination towards rejection, they would not have sought,

And if not for love, excuses would not have been appointed.

My sleep was visited when you were estranged, and oft

The eyelid was purified when you were united and watched.

Those times were starred as if they were

Flocks of birds startled by dangers.

So neither the specter pleased the desirous eyelid,

Nor did love please the pained heart with a visitor.

One whose old age lies about longing is secure,

And one whose union is safe from pain is a maiden Haajar.

And one who weeps when the year is barren,

Watered the soil from his eyelids with showers.

If you had heeded my passion with listening ears,

Every wicked one would return on his heels.

And you blamed me for the sin of lying, though still

The hand of calamities continues to transport me without stumbling.

I disobeyed the prince of love for you, and long

My ears received warnings with reprimands.

If I enumerated the types of your rejection and transgressed,

Their beginnings accompanied by their ends.

A passion that does not awaken erased them, as erased was

The enormity of crimes with Jalal al-Din’s dream.

Whenever a criminal came to him while able,

He imagined him, due to his pardon, unable.
