تقِلُّ رِمالُ الأنْعُمَيْنِ وعالجٍ

إذا طلْحة الخيرات عُدَّتْ صنايعُهْ

The sands of An'amayn shift and change,

When the auspicious one's virtues are counted as skills.

طليقُ المُحيَّا منْ مَعَدٍّ كأنَّهُ

إذا ما انتدى صبحٌ جلته مطالعُهْ

Free is the eulogizer from any fault,

When the dawn rises, its horizons unfold before him.

يَفِرُّ الأذى والمحلُ من نفس جاره

إذا عَرَّقتْ أحداثُهُ ومجاوعُهْ

He flees harm, and is far from injuring his neighbor,

When his circumstances boil and his caldrons bubble.

حسامٌ وطودٌ مُرهفٌ عند راجحٍ

تُهابُ غِرارهُ وتُعْيي فَوارعُهْ

A sword and a massive pillar at the hands of an arbiter -

His threats are feared, his blades render helpless.

يخفُّ إلى ضرب الجماجم في الوغى

ويرسو إذا ما الخطب هاجت زعازعُه

He rushes into striking skulls in battle,

And steadies when tribulations stir up their storms.

ويسْتنُّ في الجدوى كما استن عارضٌ

تنوضُ بأرْجاء الحَبيِّ لَوامِعُهْ

He is steadfast in peril, as a warrior stood fast,

Whose spears gleam in the lowlands.

أغَرُّ عليه عَبْقَةٌ زَيْنَبيَّةٌ

لها أرجٌ في الحيِّ يَفْغَمُ رادعُه

Upon him rests a Zainabia scent,

With a bouquet that overwhelms the living with its fragrance.

تضوعُ بمعْسولِ الشَّمائلِ ماجدٍ

دقاقٌ معانيه ضِخامٌ دَسائعُهْ

She glows with the sweet traits of the glorious Majid,

Whose meanings are delicate, whose gifts are plentiful.
