1. جلبتَ الخيل تمرحُ بالعَوالي

    تُعيدُ ضُحى معاركها ظلاما

    You brought the horses galloping in the meadows

    Reliving their battles in the darkness

  2. رواسبُ في الغُبارِ وطافياتٌ

    تخالُ رَعيلَ سُبَّقها سِهاما

    Sediments in the dust and swirling

    Imagining the thundering of arrows that preceded them

  3. تَجانِفُ عن زُلالِ الوِردٍ شدّاً

    وقد جحظتْ نواظِرها اُواما

    Veering away from the lush greenery furiously

    Their eyes bulging wildly

  4. لتبلغَ مُثْعِلاً صِرْفاً نَجيعاً

    أسألَ طُلىً لواردِها وهاما

    To reach a towering, lofty summit

    I asked its visitors for mercy and care

  5. عليها كلُّ أغْلَبَ شمْريٍ

    يرى الاِحجامَ دون الموتِ ذاما

    Every conqueror donning armor

    Sees death as naught but disgrace

  6. فأفْنيتَ العُصاةَ بكلِّ أرْضٍ

    ببأسٍ منك رُعبْاً أو خِصاماً

    So you vanquished the rebels in every land

    With your might, either terror or dispute

  7. وكنتَ اذا نَهدْتَ لغزوِ قوْمٍ

    سقيتهمُ على ظَمَأٍ حِماما

    And when you set out to raid a nation

    You quenched their thirst with plentiful water

  8. وَهَبْتَ حَوافرَ الجُرْد المذاكي

    ديارهمُ فردَّتْها قَتاما

    You sent the galloping steeds

    And they turned their homes into ruins

  9. فأنت غِياثُ دين اللهِ تحْمي

    حِمى الاسلامِ دُمْتَ له وداما

    You are the savior of God's religion, protecting

    The sanctuary of Islam, may you remain its pillar forever

  10. أبو الفتحِ المُظفَّرُ في المَساعي

    اذا ما خابَ مُقتحمٌ وخاما

    Abu Al-Fath prevails in his endeavors

    Whenever a daring adventurer fails and retreats

  11. سليمُ القلب منْ صَوَرٍ وغِشٍ

    يعزُّ اذا توكَّلَ واسْتناما

    Pure of heart from deviousness and deceit

    He prevails when he trusts and rests

  12. تَفُلُّ الجيش هيبتُه ولَّما

    يُنِطْ بالطِّرْفِ سْرجاً أو لجاما

    The army's might wanes when

    He glances at a saddle or bridle

  13. طليقُ الوجهِ مَعْسولُ السَّجايا

    كأنَّ على خلائقهِ مُداما

    Open-faced, smooth-cheeked

    As if wine flows perpetually over his character

  14. يفوقُ الماء والصْهْباءَ لُطفْاً

    وحَدَّ السيفِ بأساً واعْتزاما

    Kinder than water and blade

    Severer than sword in might and resolve

  15. حماهُ اللهُ من بُخْلٍ وكِبْرٍ

    وجُبْنٍ منذُ أنْشأهُ غُلاما

    God protected him from stinginess, arrogance

    And cowardice since his youth

  16. فجاءَ مُوَطَّأَ الأكْنافِ سَمْحاً

    يروحُ بنفسهِ جيْشاً لُهاما

    He came with lowered shoulders, forgiving

    His soul leading an army of lions

  17. تَهونُ مَطالبُ الدُّنيا لديهِ

    فيُصغرُها ويَحْقرُها ضِخاما

    Worldly desires seem trivial to him

    So he belittles and scorns their grandeur

  18. وما جَمُّ الغَواربِ ذو زَهاءٍ

    يحطُّ صَفا الشَّوامِخ والسِّلاما

    Nor is the darkness of clouds one of glory

    Dimming the brilliance of peaks and summits

  19. تدافعَ مُفْعماً شَرِقتْ شِعابٌ

    بمدَّتهِ وأغْرقَتِ الاِكاما

    It surged, overflowing, mountain paths poured

    With its extent, submerging plateaus

  20. مَرَتْ أطباءهُ من بعد هَدْءٍ

    صَباً نصَرتْ على المحْلِ النُّعامى

    After calm, his physicians walked

    Through youthful vigor victorious over exhaustion

  21. فبارى رعْدُه زَجلاً وصوتاً

    وفاقَ رُكامُ سوْرتهِ الغَماما

    So his thunder roared, voice and tremor

    And the piles of his delight surpassed the clouds

  22. وغادرَ كلَّ مُخرفةٍ حَميلاً

    تُريكَ الغيلَ عن وشْكٍ ثُماما

    He left every embellished camel-litter

    Showing you the miser atop a ragged female

  23. فعادَ الوحشُ كالنَّينانِ عَوْماً

    ولَّما تَحْمِ أجنحةٌ نَعاما

    In it, the incapable equal the brave

    The hunchbacks and the orphaned boys

  24. بأجْرأ من غِياثِ الدين قلْباً

    اذا ما الشمسُ أغْدفتِ اللِّثاما

    With fear does the timid evade

    Assailing him, making him forget meals

  25. وأغبر مُسْنتٍ عرَقتْهُ غُبْرٌ

    ترادفَ جدْبُها عاماً فَعاما

    Fearing and avoiding what he suspects

    For fear it may secretly please him

  26. ينوسُ بغُبَّرٍ من صاعِداتٍ

    بِطاءِ الجَذْبِ يضطرمُ اضطراما

    When an elder chides him

    He imagines the gleam of a sword's blade

  27. تخوَّنهُ الطَّوي فَغدا سَقيماً

    ولم يرَ عندهُ الآسي سَقاما

    The ruler's confidante read him clearly

    And exaggerated his desires and resolved his debts

  28. لدى شنْعاءَ كاذبةِ الغَوادي

    تُخيِّبُ منْ تلمَّحها وشاما

    He read him, who was distraught with fear and hunger

    For him, when he roped him in with a bond

  29. اذا ما قيلَ حافلةٌ أسَفَّتْ

    لُمنتجِعٍ غَدتْ قَزعَاً جَهاما

    Some swagger upon death

    When they wade into evil, bitter and callous

  30. تساوي عاجِزٌ فيها وجَلْدٌ

    فسِيَّانِ الغَطارِفُ والأيامى

    While prey remains forbidden to them

    When lions and leopards disobey

  31. وبالغَرْثانِ خوف مُسْتَطيرْ

    يُناوشهُ فيُنسيهِ الطَّعاما

    And they look down from cushions

    So the towering become bridges for them

  32. يخافُ ويتَّقي ما يرْتجيهِ

    مخافةَ أنْ يُسِرَّ لهُ غَراما

    The air is fragrant when their dignitaries speak

    As if their talk spreads the aroma of lavender

  33. اذا ما عارضٌ أعْلى سَناهُ

    توهَّمَ لمْعَ بارقهِ حُساما

    But the sun of their might sets from blemishes

    So they don glimmering crowns and turbans

  34. قَراهُ نائلُ السَّلطانِ غَمْراً

    فأوْسعهُ الرغائبَ والذِّماما

    You surpassed them in precedence if they were steeds

    And outmatched them in virtue if they were nobles

  35. قراهُ فكان من خوْفٍ وجوعٍ

    له لَّما أناخَ به عِصاما

  36. من المُتغطرفين على المَنايا

    اذا خاضوا الرَّدى مُرّاً زُؤاما

  37. تظلُّ الصِّيدُ لاثِمةً ثَراهَمْ

    اذا عَصَتِ الأشاجِعُ والسُّلاما

  38. ويرتفقونَ من فوق الحَشايا

    فيغْدو الباذخونَ لَهم قِياما

  39. يطيبُ الجوُّ اذْ تُتْلى عُلاهُمْ

    كأنَّ حديثهُمْ نَشْرُ الخُزامى

  40. وتخْفى شمسُ روعِهُم لنَقْعٍ

    فيأتلقونَ تيجاناً وَلاما

  41. سبقءتهمُ وانْ كانوا جياداً

    وفُقْتَهمُ وانْ كانوا كِراما
