وإِني مع الإِعْراض عني لَمُقْبلٌ

إلى الوِدِّ مَلآنُ الفصاحة بالشُّكْرِ

Though you've turned from me, I'm still inclined

To thankfulness - my eloquence overflows.

أزيدُ على صَدِّ الوزيرِ صَبابةً

وربُّ الهوى يزداد وجداً مع الهجرِ

More patient than the minister I've been,

And love within me grows as estrangement grows.
