1. ربَعيٌّ من بني جُشَمٍ

    كل بيتٍ منه خفَّانُ

    A quarter of the tribe of Jusham

    Each of its homes a Khiffan

  2. حولهُ جُرْدٌ مُسومةٌ

    وظُبىً بيضٌ وخرْصانُ

    Around it a bare plain

    With white antelope and mountain cows

  3. ترجفُ البَيداءُ إن ركبوا

    فكأَنَّ القاعَ نَشْوانُ

    The desert trembles when they ride

    As if the ground were a dancing place

  4. غَدَروا ظُلماً بلا سببٍ

    فَوَفيُّ القوم خَوَّانُ

    They wrongfully attacked without cause

    So the people's protector is the betrayer

  5. فصبحْنا هم على نُذُرٍ

    وبَشيرُ الصُّبْح عَجْلانُ

    We were left with only promises

    While the harbinger of dawn is hasty

  6. غارةً يَرْوي الحُسامُ بها

    وكميُّ الجيشِ ظَمْآنُ

    A raid in which the swords quench their thirst

    And the whole army is thirsty

  7. رَعَتِ الأرماحَ خَيْلُهم

    فكأنَّ السُّمْرَ حَوْذانُ

    Their horses shook the spears

    As if they were swaying cypress trees

  8. وأذلَّتْهم بسالتُنا

    فالأبيُّ القَيْلُ مِذْعانُ

    Our courage humiliated them

    So the most courageous warriors surrendered

  9. نحنُ قومٌ من بني مُضرٍ

    جَدُّنا في الفخر عَدنانُ

    We are a people of the Mudar tribe

    Our ancestry in pride is Adnan

  10. خُشُنٌ والضَّيمُ مُعْتَرضٌ

    ذُلُلٌ والنَّاسُ إِخوان

    Haughty, though wronged, standing tall

    Humble, though people are brothers

  11. نارُنا فوقَ الجبالِ بها

    يهتدي سَفْرٌ ورُكبانُ

    Our fire on the mountains is a guide

    For travelers and riding caravans

  12. كلُّ مِطْعامٍ على سَغبٍ

    وهو يومَ الرَّوع مِطعانُ

    Every meal is plentiful

    And on moving day it is packed

  13. وعلى النَّادي تُضيءُ لنا

    أوجهٌ غُرٌّ وتيجانُ

    The gathering place shines for us

    With strange faces and crowns

  14. مَعْشري لا مَعْشرٌ كُهُمٌ

    زانَهم حُسْنٌ وإِحْسانُ

    A people whose company is no rabble

    Their beauty is kindness and grace

  15. خُطباءٌ لا يَفوتُهُم

    في أداءِ القولِ تِبْيانُ

    Orators who overlook no eloquence

    In clear speech delivery

  16. ومُلوكٌ والملوكُ لَهُمْ

    في امتِثالِ الأمر عُبْدانُ

    And kings whom kings

    Obey in carrying out commands

  17. يَحسدُ الدَّأمأءُ أيْديَهم

    ونسيمُ الليلِ شفَّانُ

    The cup of life envies their hands

    And the night breeze is infatuated

  18. كرضيِّ الدينِ يَحْسدُهُ

    في نَداهُ الغَمْرِ تَهْتانُ

    Like pleasure of religion it envies him

    Plunged in seas of bounty drowning

  19. واهبُ الدُّنيا بمُعْذرةٍ

    حيثُ مُعْطى النَّزْرِ مَنَّانُ

    Bestower of the world apologetically

    Where giving a pittance seems obliging

  20. نائمٌ عن كل مُخْزيةٍ

    وهو في العلياء يَقظان

    Asleep to all dishonor

    While awake in the highest heaven

  21. غَيثُ جَدْبٍ وهو جَذْلانُ

    ليثُ حربٍ وهو غَضبانُ

    A rain for drought and yet a torrent

    A lion in war and raging

  22. كرمٌ ما شابَ رَيِّقَهُ

    لأولي الحاجاتِ ليَّانُ

    A generosity whose spring was never muddied

    Toward the needy soft and shining
