صَدَقْتُمْ قَدُّه يَحْكي القَضِيبا

أَلْمْ تَرهُ حَوى زَهْراً وَطِيبا

You spoke true, its leadership tells of glory

Did you not see it protect a flower and fragrance

ولكنْ تَحْمِلُ الكثْبانُ باناً

وَلَمْ أَرَ بانةً حَملتْ كَثيبا

But the dunes bear fruit

And I never saw a female bear a fruit

وَلمَّا أَنْ تلاقَيْنا وأَبْدى

لَنا شَفقُ الضُّحَى كَفَّاً خَضِيبا

And when we met and the dawn

Revealed to us the redness of shyness

مَلأتُ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ ياقوتِ دَمْعي

وَكُنْتُ مَحقْتُ لُؤْلُؤَهُ نَحِيبا

I filled his hands with the ruby of my tears

And I was wiping its pearls with my crying

ذهلتُ عَن النَّسيبِ به فباتتْ

محاسِنُه تُعَلّمني النَّسيبا

I was distracted from relative by it, so its

Beauty taught me ancestry

وَبِتُّ أَهابُ سُودَ الأُسْدِ لمَّا

دَنَا وَعَهِدْتُهُ ظَبْياً رَبيبا

And I pass the night fearing the black lions when

He approached and I called him a tender cub

فيا لِلَّه لَحْظُك مِنْ عَدوٍّ

أَراكَ لأجْلِهِ أَبداً حَبيبا

Oh my God, your glances from an enemy

I see you because of it forever a lover

أيا قمراً أَعِدْ عِنْدِي طُلوعاً

وَإِلَّا فاتخِذْ عِنْدي مَغيبا

Oh moon, set for me a rising

Or else take in my presence a setting

وَيَا لَيْلَ الذَّوائبِ طلْتَ فاقْصُرْ

وَكُنْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَخْمصهِ قَرِيبا

Oh night of visitors, you are long so shorten

And be from under his heel near
