1. قَمَرٌ رَأَيْتُ الكَوْنَ ضَاءَ بِبِشْرِهِ

    لَمَّا سَرَى حُسْناً وَضَاعَ بِنَشْرِهِ

    A moon I saw the universe glow with its good news

    When beauty moved and was spent in its diffusion

  2. ظَبْيٌ وَمَا لِلظّبْي لَفْتَةُ جِيدِهِ

    غُصْنٌ وَمَا لِلغُصْنِ دِقَّةُ خَصْرِهِ

    A gazelle, and what gazelle has the charm of its neck

    A branch, and what branch the slenderness of its waist

  3. يَبْدو اعْتِدالُ قَوامِهِ في مثلهِ

    وَتبينُ صِحَّةُ جَفْنِهِ في كَسْرِهِ

    The balance of its figure appears in its likeness

    And the health of its eyelid shows in its languor
