يَا مَنْ غَدَتِ القُلُوبُ في طَوْعِ يَدَيْه
ذَا صَبُّكَ كَمْ تَهْدِي تَجَنّيكَ إليهْ
O you beneath whose sway all hearts have grown obedient,
Here is your ardent lover—how much your cruelty gives him:
عَذْلٌ وَتَسهُّدٌ وَوَجْدٌ وَقِلىً
مَا تَمَّ عَلى العُشّاقِ مَا تَمَّ عَليهْ
Reproach and sleeplessness, passion and aversion;
You do not bestow upon other lovers what you bestow upon him.
