سَكَنَ الزِّيَادَةَ وَهْوَ بَدْرٌ كَامِلٌ
يَسْبي عُقُولَ العَاشِقينَ بِحرْصِهِ
He settled in al-Ziyāda—“Increase”—though he was a perfect full moon,
taking captive the minds of lovers in his eagerness.
كَمُلتْ مَحاسِنُه بِخَطِّ عِذَارِهِ
وَبِهِ الأَمانُ لِحُسْنِه مِنْ نَقْصِهِ
His charms were brought to perfection by the line of down on his cheek;
through it, his beauty is safe from waning.
