Musk, wine, and hailstones—
his lips’ nectar supplies them all.
Were the full moon of night to see
the radiance of his two cheeks, it would fall prostrate.
And were Beauty itself to behold him,
it would die from sheer excess of envy.
He kills with a glance, and yet
no blood-requital is due from him.
I shield him from my own gaze
with “Say: He is God, the One.”
