1. إنْ شَكَوْنا لَهُ ظَمانا وَجَدْنا

    مِنْهُ بِالريِّ لِلْحَدِيثِ ضَمَانَا

    If we complained to him of our thirst, we found

    from him, in its quenching, a pledge of conversation.

  2. ما سَبانا لِينُ المَعاطِف مِنْهُ

    مُذْ تَثنَّى إلَّا وَقَدْ مَاسَ بَانَا

    Never did the suppleness of his form enthrall us,

    when he bent, but that a bān tree, too, was swaying.
