قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا في البِلادِ قَضِيَّةً

مَضْمُونها أَنْ قَدْ قَضَى القِسّيسُ

They said, “Throughout the land we heard a matter—

its substance: that the priest had met his end.”

فَأَجبْتُ قَدْ كَانَ الَّذي خَبَّرْتُموا

عَنْهُ وخَرَّبَ رَبْعَهُ إبْلِيسُ

I answered, “What you two reported about him has indeed occurred,

and Iblis has laid his dwelling waste.”
