وَفَقِيهٍ كَالبَدْرِ زَارَ بِلَيْلٍ

فَجَلا نُورُهُ الدُّجَى إِذْ تَجَلَّى

A wise man like the full moon visited at night,

His light dispelled the darkness when he appeared.

مَا دَرَى مَوْضِعي وَلكِنَّ قَلْبِي

بِضِرَامِ الحَشَا هَداهُ وَدلَّا

He didn't know where I was but my heart,

Guided by the shepherd's hut, led him and showed the way.

وَعَجِيبٍ مِنْهُ فَقِيهٌ ذَكِيٌّ

بِمَحَلِّ النّزَاعِ كَيْفَ اسْتَدَلَّا

How amazing that this wise and intelligent man

Knew through clues where to find the subject of dispute.
