Yes, it is the abode, whoever calls it,

And it has become passionate at the living place of its caller,

Exalt it in passion, and honor it,

That I bestow affection on other than its caller.

How much of its flourishing spring has elated me,

Its blooming delighted me with its glow and bloom,

It brought joy to all its lovers and companions,

With the light of its lamp.

And how many beauties we have secretly gotten together in it,

Which its walls and guards protect.

In it her jewelry glistened, and her smile,

And the fragrance of her breath and her friendship.

The patience of the lover has diminished from firmness,

As beauty lined her with meanings.

A garden of beauty that melts the firmly resolved,

Reviving the heart of the lovesick, her herdsman.

An orchard whose fragrances were only watered,

By the tears of those who came to it.

So who will protect the lover from distress,

Which her exuberance and awakening have aroused?

And from tears my eyes freely shed,

Matching what her thorns have ripped.

And from cheeks that are blooming with roses,

If her beloved's state turned against her beloved.

And from slender waists, which if they bend languidly,

    Beauty distinguishes in its bending.

Her tears would turn away the cheeks,

    But passion makes them flow.

A difficult love, which passion has shepherded,

Nothing has veiled it from her.

Where the trappings of joy are lofty,

Taking him along, and the prime of youth guides it.

And the eye roams wherever beauty has wandered,

Embracing it, while it embraces her.

And it has indulged in love from its passion for her,

Angering its innards, and pleasing her.

No branch shadows it, so it holds her back,

Or poverty challenges it, so it restrains her.

And the soul, separation has not denied for it,

What nearness has affirmed of her hopes.

So there is no estrangement to fear,

No, nor any harshness to endure.

Oh, what an era of sweetness has been distant,

Nights, if only he could bring it closer.

So bid farewell to the people of the protected sanctuary,

And be content with your world, apart from its wishes.

And make it lawful with drafts of her delicious wine,

And make it pleasant with drafts of her cupbearer.

For it is a wine like amber, if mixed,

It has brought its wonders to its drinker.
