1. ما ناحَ على الغُصُونِ في الدَّوْحِ حَمامْ

    إلّا ولقيتُ مِنْكَ بِالشَّوْقِ حِمامْ

    No dove has cooed in the palms in the valley

    Except I have met from you desire, dove

  2. فَارْحَمْ دَنِفاً قَدْ زَادَهُ البُعْدُ سِقامْ

    لا يَعْرِفُ مُذْ هَجَرْتَهُ طَعْمَ مَنامْ

    So have mercy on one emaciated, whom distance has increased illness

    Who has not known, since you abandoned him, the taste of sleep
