ناوليني الكَأس في الصُّبَحِ

ثُمَّ غنِّي لي على قَدَحِي

Hand me the cup in the morning

Then sing to me over my goblet

وأديري شمسَ وَجْهَكِ لِي

فَضِياءُ الشَّمْسِ لَمْ يَلُحِ

And turn the sun of your face to me

For the sun's radiance did not shine

واشْغلي كفَّيك فِي وترِ

لاَ تَمُدِّيها إِلَى السُّبحِ

Occupy your hands on the strings

Do not extend them to prayer beads

وَإِذَا أطْرَبْتِني وَبَدَا

بِانْتِشَائِي حَالَ مُفْتَضَحِ

And when you enchant me and my

Joyous state becomes exposed

عَانِقيني بِاليَدَيْنِ كَمَا

يَفْعَلُ الأَحبابُ مِنْ فَرَحِ

Embrace me with your hands as

Lovers do in elation

وإِذَا عَانقْتُ مِنْ طَربٍ

غُصْنَ قَدٍّ مِنْكِ مُتَّشحِ

And when I embrace in rapture

A branch of citron from you adorned

فَضَعِي أَزْرارَ أَطْواقَكِ عَنْ

صَدْرِكِ الفتَّانِ بالمُلحِ

Unfasten the buttons of your collars from

Your tempting chest with salt

وَإِذَا ما الأَمْرُ كانَ كَذَا

فَانْزعِي السُّرْوَال وَاطَّرحِي

And when the matter is thus

Take off your pants and toss them

وَخُذِي ذا أَجْمعُهِ

وَاطْلُبي ما شِئْتِ وَاقْتَرحِي

And take this of mine whole

And seek what you wish and propose

ثم رُوحِي بالأَمَانِ فمِثْ

لي بسرٍّ قَطّ لَمْ يَبُحِ

Then go in safety for never

Did I break a secret tryst
