أَتراهُ لَمَّا جَارَ في أَخْلاقِهِ

عَلِمَ الَّذي يَجْرِي على مُشْتَاقِهِ

Did he know, when he was unfaithful in his ways,

What would happen to the one longing for him?

ظَبْيٌ يَزيدُ عَلى الظُّبَى في فَتْكِهَا

وَعَلَى هِلالِ الأُفْقِ في إِشْرَاقِهِ

A gazelle who is more deadly than a lioness

And brighter than the crescent moon on the horizon.

كَمْ حيّ صَبٌّ مُغْرَمٍ في حُبِّهِ

وَمُحِبُّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ في أَشْوَاقِهِ

How many passionate lovers has he enthralled with his love,

Yet he died while his lover was still longing for him.

أَسَرَ القُلوبَ بِأَسْرِهَا في حُبِّهِ

فَاللَّهُ يَحْفَظُهُ عَلى عُشَّاقِهِ

He has captured hearts with his captivation.

May God protect him for his lovers.
