حَتّامَ حَظّي لَديْكَ حِرْمانُ

وَكَمْ كَذا جَفْوَةٌ وَهِجْرانُ

My fate with you is deprivation,

And so much coldness and estrangement.

أَين ليالٍ مَضتْ وَنحْنُ بِها

أَحبّةً في الهَوى وَجِيرانُ

Where are the nights that passed while we were,

Friends in love and neighbors?

وَأَيْنَ وُدٌّ عَهِدْتُ صِحَّتَهُ

وَأَيْن عَهْدٌ وأَيْنَ أَيْمانُ

Where is the affection whose soundness I guaranteed,

Where is the pact and where are the oaths?

أعانَكَ الهَجْرُ وَالصُّدُودُ على

قَتْلِي وَمَا لِي عَلَيْكَ أَعْوانُ

Estrangement and avoidance have helped you,

To kill me while I have no supporters against you.

يا غَائباً عَاتباً تَطاوَلَ هَ

ذَا الهَجْرُ هَلْ للدّنوّ إِمْكانُ

O absent one blaming, this estrangement has been prolonged,

Is there any possibility to get closer?

قَدْ رَضِيَ الدَّهْرُ وَالعواذِلُ وال

حُسَّادُ عَنّي وَأَنْتَ غَضْبَانُ

Time, the slanderers, and the envious are pleased with me

While you remain angry.

فَاسْلَمْ وَلاَ تَلْتَفِتْ إِلَى مُهَجٍ

بِها جَوىً قَاتِلٌ وَأَشْجانُ

Submit and do not pay attention to an infatuated one,

In whom lethal, burning love resides.

وَنمْ خَلِيّا وَقُلْ كَذا وَكذا

مِنْ كلّ ما أَطْلعَتْ تِلمسانُ

Sleep free of worries and say this and that,

From all that Tlemcen's eyes have seen.
