وِصَالُكَ أَنْهَى مَطْلَبِي وَمُرَادِي

وَحُسْنُكَ أَبْهَى مَرْتَعِي وَمَزادِي

Your union fulfilled my wish and desire

And your beauty outshone my paradise and provision

ودُونَكَ لَوْ وَافَيْتُ رَبْعَكَ زَائِراً

خِطابُ جِدَالٍ فِي خُطُوبِ جِلَادِ

Without you, even if I visited your abode as a pilgrim

It would be futile debate, wooing an executioner

حَبيبي لَقَدْ رَوَّيْتَ عَيْنِي بِدَمْعِهَا

وَغَادَرْتَ قَلْبِي لِلتَّصبّرِ صَادِي

My love, you have satiated my eyes with their tears

And left my heart to patience, my companion

وَنَقَّصْتَ في حَظِّي كَمَا زِدْتَ فِي الهَوَى

صُدُودِيَ يَا كُلَّ المُنَى وبُعَادِي

You diminished my fortune as you increased my passion

My adversary, O epitome of all I wish and distance from me

فَوَ اللَّهِ لَمْ أُطْلِقْ لِغَيْرِكَ مُهْجَتِي

غَرَاماً وَلَمْ أَمْنَحْ سِوَاكَ وِدَادِي

By Allah, I unleashed my love for none but you

And granted my affection to none but you

بِعَيْشِكَ نَبِّهْ نَاظِرَيْكَ لَعلَّها

تَرُدُّ عَلَى طَرْفِي لَذِيذَ رُقَادِي

By your life, awaken your sleepy eyes, perhaps

They will return to me the sweetness of their slumber

إِلى اللَّهِ أَشْكُو فِي الغَرامِ مُحَجَّباً

بِقَلْبِي فَلا تَلْقَاهُ عَيْنِي بَادِي

To Allah I complain secretly of passion

With my heart, so my eyes reveal it not

أُحَاذِرُ طُولاً مِنْ ذُؤَابةِ شَعْرِهِ

فَقَدْ وَصَلتْ مِنْ قَدِّهِ لفُؤَادِي

I fear the long tresses of his hair

For they have reached from his nape to my heart
