النَفسُ مِن فَقدِها حَرّى مُوَلَّهَةٌ
لا في القُبورِ وَلا تَحيا مَعَ البَشَرِ
My soul, burning and distraught for her whom it has lost,
is neither in the grave nor living among humankind.
اللَهُ أَصفى لَها وُدّي فَصَوَّرَها
حَسناءَ تَقصُرُ عَنها دارَةُ القَمَرِ
God made my love wholly hers, and fashioned her
a beauty before whom the moon’s halo falls short.
