واسَوأَتا مِن رَأيِكَ العازِبِ
وَعَقلِكَ المُستَهتِرِ الذاهِبِ
Oh, the shame of your wayward judgment,
And of your reckless, lost reason,
وَمِن رَشيقٍ وَهوَ مُستَقدِمٌ
يَبصُقُ في شَعرِ اِستِكَ الشائِبِ
And of Rashiq, as he comes forward,
Spitting into the graying hair of your ass.
إِن وَقَفَت سوقُكَ لَو أَكسَدَت
بِضاعَةٌ مِن شِعرِكَ الخائِبِ
If your market stalls, if there goes unsold
Merchandise from your worthless verse,
أَنحَيتَ كَي تُنفِقَها زارِياً
عَلى عَلِيِّ بنِ أَبي طالِبِ
To sell it, you launch a disparaging attack
On Ali ibn Abi Talib.
قَد آنَ أَن يَبرُدَ مَعناكُمُ
لَولا لَجاجُ القَدَرِ الغالِبِ
It is high time your meaning grew cold,
Were it not for the obstinacy of overpowering fate.
