1. O Abu al-Husayn, a plea from a young man whose

    hands have clung to an unsevered cord from you.

  2. Through your radiant ascendancy, I indeed enjoy honor;

    I rise through your name in pride that cannot be denied.

  3. People honor me for your sake, because they know

    of my long-standing service, with reverence and praise.

  4. And you are most worthy and best suited to complete

    the favors I have already received, by renewing them.

  5. For you are the noblest of those linked to nobility;

    And you are the most generous of those who delight in giving.

  6. And you are wisdom's towering mountain among people, as they know;

    And you are the dawn amid darkness in times of gloom.
