A Saturday, and we have enough to free a monk,
Food and roses are close at hand.
We have a gathering by the river, so come!
A spacious, comforting place for hearts.
The flowing wine brings you close to her
You love, even if the beloved was cold.
So come to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid
In secret, so the watcher cannot see.
We banish cares with a morning drink,
Three drafts that drive away sorrows.
In comfort there’s respite from love’s fever,
And my heart turns fondly to the poet.
Grey hair won’t stop me from you,
Grey hair never turned me from carousing mates.
