لَمّا حَصَلنا عَلى العَشرِ الَّتي بَقِيَت
وَأَدبَرَ الشَهرُ عَنّا بَعدَ إِقبالِ
When we reached the ten days that remained
And the month turned away from us after prosperity
وَآنَسَت لَهَواتي بَعدَ ما لَفَظَت
طَعمَ الصِيامِ حَديثاً طَعمَ شَوّالِ
And my desires sensed, after having relinquished
The taste of fasting, the fresh taste of Shawwal
أُريتُ ذا رَبعَةٍ في العَينِ مِن قِصَرٍ
وَذاكَ أَطوَلُ مِن شاهِ بنِ ميكالِ
I was shown a moon in the eye from a palace
And that is taller than Shah Bin Mikal
