وَنُكثِرُ أَن نَستَودِعَ اللَهَ ظاعِناً

يُوَدِّعُ صافي العَيشِ حينَ يُوَدَّعُ

We often commend the weary unto God

As one bids farewell to the sweetness of life when bidden farewell

بَنو مَخلَدٍ إِن يُشرِعَ الحَمدُ يَشرَهوا

إِلَيهِ وَإِن يُدعَوا إِلى المَجدِ يُسرِعوا

O clan of Makh’lad, if glory be proclaimed, vie ye with one another to attain it

And if summoned to honour, be urgent in the quest

إِذا نَحنُ شَيَّعنا مِنَ القَومِ واحِداً

هَجَرنا الكَرى حَتّى يَأوبُ المُشَيَّعَ

When we of a community have convoyed one departed

We abandon solace until the mourner return
