The softness of light and the quivering of youth

Revealed in you the most noble of virtues

In a cloak of chivalry you shed

A time of companionship and affection still near

You brought joy to one and all, twenty-one

In the springtime of life, pure and good

As if spring itself adorned your nature

    And garden, O Abu Ya'qub

My praise cannot match your worth

Though it came from the east or the south wind

The seeker grew weak but your care

    Never waned despite the distance

By my life, I have pondered your ways

And found no fault or cause for wonder

    A lineage between us confirms

Civility, as the cultured honor the cultured

    Your care showed the way

    Until success shone through troubles

    Beyond closed doors, drawn curtains

And veils of modesty and reserve
